Monthly Events Heimat Abend - Held every first Friday of the month. Music by Joe Rogers and his band. Starts
at 7:00 pm. Hot food is available from the kitchen. Dates are as follows:

Heurigan Abend - Held every third Friday of the month . Music by Schachtelgebirger Musikanten starts at 7:30 pm. Hot food is available from the kitchen. Dates are as follows: Jan 21, Feb. 18, March 18, April 15, May 20, June 17, July 15, August 19, Sept. 16, Oct. 21, Nov. 18, and Dec. 16.
Gemütlicher Abend - Nick is away at college and won't be available for the fourth Friday of the month. The talented, young Violinist is studying Music Production and we hope to see him back at the Donau soon.
Free Admission includes light fare. Dates are as follows: May 27, June 24, July 22.
Fifth Friday - April 29, 2011, July 29th, September 30th, featuring Frank Billowicz, 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. German musical entertainment and food will be available.
Saturday April 21st- 6pm Scholarship Dinner and Awards- Scha-Musi will perform along with a performance by the Alpenland Dancers. Tickets $20 in advance, Children under 12, half price. Summer Scholarship Fundraiser (TBA)- 12:30pm Schlactfest (Roast Pig) along with hot dogs and hamburgers. Scha-Musi providing musical entertainment along with a performance by the Alpenland Dancers. Tickets will be $20. Children under 12 half price. Saturday Nov. 10th- 6pm Schnitzel Dinner Scha-Musi will perform along with a performance by the Alpenland Dancers. Tickets will be $20. Children under 12 half price.
Sonntag Frühstuck - Every second Sunday of the month come enjoy breakfast from 8:00 a.m. to noon. No breakfast: June, July and August. In 2010 Sunday breakfast will be held February 13, March 13, April 10, May 8, September 11, October 9, November 13, December 11. Rastatt Germany The city of New Britain has several International Sister City relationships, one of which is with Rastatt. From the start of the 25 year exchange between Rastatt and NB, the Donau Club has been a loyal supporter of the partnership with our fellow Germans from Rastatt. The Club hosted in 2009 a dinner with officials from Rastatt and NB celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the founding of the Rastatt-NB Sister City program. In past years, Officers from the Donau Club have been Honarary Guests of Rastatt at their reknowned Tete a Tete Strassenfest held every 2 years. The week long Strassenfest will be held again in Rastatt June 2010 and Club members are welcome to attend the spectacular event.
German Language School - For those people who wish to learn the language of their parents or grandparents the Donau Club offers instruction in the German language. The course is primarily structured for beginners or those wanting to refresh their German speaking and writing skills. The school is taught by the honorable William MacNamara, former mayor of New Britain and longtime German language teacher in the New Britain School system. To enroll or for more information, please contact Dennis Kern at 828-9950. Singing Society - The Men's and Women's Singing Societies meet every Tuesday at 7pm. The Singers have been in existence since 1906 and continue to carry on the traditions of German and Austrian choral singing. The Alpenland Tänzer - Founded in 1960, the dancers are dedicated to upholding the tradition of Alpine folk dances. They meet on Thursdays at 7pm. There is also a Kindergruppe for children wishing to participate and perform. Please visit the website of the dancers. Originally formed in 1920 to provide disability benefits for its members who are of Austrian or German descent. Meetings are held every second Friday of the month.
